MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL 45TH
Il conçoit le cercle comme une forme musicale. Pour la 45e édition du Montreux Jazz Festival, l’artiste suisse dispose des cercles en suites rythmiques. Son affiche laisse libre cours à toutes sortes d’associations. D’aucuns y voient des dés, des mesures sur une portée ou même des fromages suisses.
Francis Baudevin se joue des conventions visuelles et contourne avec humour leur signification première. La peinture de ce Romand né à Bulle dans le canton de Fribourg en 1964 s’inscrit dans la tradition de l’époque moderne. A y regarder de plus près, ses motifs trahissent une affinité avec la culture pop: des emballages de médicaments, des disques ou des cahiers d’école lui servent d’inspiration. Par un procédé d’abstraction, Baudevin transforme des produits courants comme des logos d’entreprise en une combinaison de figures géométriques. La musique joue un rôle central, surtout dans son œuvre photographique. Grand amateur de disques vinyles, l’artiste est aussi fasciné par leur forme. En 2009, il a exposé ses photos dans le cadre du Cully Jazz Festival.
