ELECTROSANNE FESTIVAL 2009

Artist of the week:

Dada Life ( SWE / Breastfed )

Holland, Belgium, Australia and other places – both DJ- and live-sets. There’s also an USA-tour planned for January 2009. And remember: destroy dance music and have fun. Don’t look back in the past. Always go forward. Don’t think too much. Always follow the money.
Do the Dada.

ELECTROSANNE FESTIVAL 2009

Artist of the week:

Dj Craze ( USA / Ammo Records )

Craze's life is a legacy of rags to riches, geek to chic, no‐name to world fame. He never had it easy ‐ his is a story that's an uphill battle, but a story that ends right at the top. And that he proved – 3 times at the DMC World Championships, an unprecedented record, and a title that no other solo DJ has yet to match. While Craze is regarded internationally and unquestionably as one of the best scratch DJs in the world. On top of his untouchable turntablist skills and scratch champion showmanship, the world has also recognised that Craze is a second to none club DJ – he has toured the globe over. All DJing aside, Craze is also a world‐ renowned producer, releasing wildly successful drum'n'bass records. It's the respect from both DJs and audiences alike that has paved Craze's seamless move between hip hop and turntablism to drum'n'bass. This is Craze – the man who arguably defined his hometown Miami turntablism scene, only to return now to reinvent this take on the Miami sound; a neo‐genre of his own special blend of every which way club codes from the ghosts of discos past, present and future.

ELECTROSANNE FESTIVAL 2009

Artist of the week:

Zombie Nation ( DE / Dekathlon Records )

Zombie Nation came to life in 1999 when the first 12 inch record was released on DJ Hell's International Deejay Gigolo Records. Before Zombie Nation was born, Zombie Nation Photothe ZN mastermind Florian Senfter who also goes by the name John Starlight or Mr. Splank used to spend his time squatting abandoned factories to organize parties with his back then crew in Munich/Germany. Those were the days where acid was considered food and strobe light substituted for sunlight. So, what are the most famous songs of this ahh Zombie Nation? Is it Souls at Zero? Paeng Paeng, Booster or Kernkraft 400? "I created a Monster, it developed a life of it's own" is what Splank says about Kernkraft 400. The song is considered be one of the most remixed electronic songs ever, amongst them also the bootleg "chant" mix, which has made Kernkraft a sports anthem around the globe Undisturbed by this, Splank kept on doing his thing and released the 3rd ZN Album "Black Toys" in 2006. It was highly acclaimed by fans and critics for it's diversity and organic feel. Splank also releases as John Starlight. Remember the banging Blood Angels? The story continued with ZZT in 2007, a collaboration between ZN and Tiga. They released the nerve wrecking "Lower State of Consciousness" - together with a banging remix by Justice on the flip side. Currently, Zombie Nation has an album in the making (release date: Feb/March. 2009).
Zombie Nation Photo Driven by the will to "create as many perfect moments as possible", Splank has travelled the world during the last 10 years and played shows from intimate clubs to huge festivals and made Zombie Nation live its own brand. Zombie Sound - that means funky, dirty grooves between electro and house, bass-laden raw energy. In other words an unfiltered mix of styles. Splank likes to update his musical production with every track: "Music is stored energy" as he always points out; and like a good cook would choose only organic ingredients in the Zombie Kitchen all production is based on hardware and analogue gear.

Heart Attack Grill

Long time ago I saw a TV report talking about sandwich's history. Guys who did that went in lot of different restaurant, fast food and dinner all over the world. Expensive or cheap food, bio and natural, vegetarian or specialities... but one of theme was totaly different: "Heart Attack Grill"... I never saw something like that, and I hope to have the chance to go there to see, because I think it couldn't be possible for me to eat that: the Quadruple Bypass Burger!

ELECTROSANNE FESTIVAL 2009

Last Tuesday we were very proud to present the programming of the 4th edition of Electrosanne Festival (Our local Electronic Festival). At first, in the morning, we have presented it to the press and then, in the evening, we put it on-line on our web site. (www.electrosanne.ch)

For the people who don’t know Electrosanne… Electrosanne is very popular festival in the region. It’s the 4th edition of a 3 days eltronic music festival. The stages are extended in different clubs of Lausanne city. We have 5 different stages and 1 innovation this year, a free open-air stage in the heart of the town. (More informations)

The Festival is in 10 weeks. By waiting, week-by-week I gonna present you 10 artists from the 75 programmed.

To begin I offer you Nick Catchdubs...

NICK CATCHDUBS ( USA / Fool's Gold )

Based in Brooklyn, New York, Nick Catchdubs has been dropping his signature club sets (hip hop, electro, dancehall, rock and more, with an emphasis on new music and original remixes) all across the country for the past four years. It’s not a kitchen sink approach to DJing, just lots of different music mixed well, rocking any kind of party you could think of. Nick has shared stages with the likes of Ghostface, MIA, Spankrock, and the Pack, and played back to back with club champs like Diplo & Low Budget of Hollertronix, Flosstradamus, and Kanye West’s DJ A‐Trak. On the production side, his blends, remixes, and re‐edits have been getting play around the globe. For nearly three years, Nick also served as associate editor at The FADER Magazine, holding down the mag’s radio show “The Let Out” on East Village Radio, a cross‐genre two hour mixshow which played host to live mixes and interviews.
